Narrative Short, Serbia, 2017, 8 min, Color

The 21st century. The era of neoliberalism, consumerism and virtual reality – blank stares, absent minds, and dead souls. Far from this world communities that haven’t said farewell to the old-fashioned values can still be found. In one of those districts lives a truck driver who just wants to put an end to a long and tiring day.

Inspired by Italian neorealism, shot in natural surroundings, with equipment far behind today’s standards, this project is an attempt to pave the way for a different kind of film in a society burdened with expensive technology.

Ember

Directors: Caitlin Hoseck, Celeste Jamneck

Animation, South Africa, 2018, 4 min, Color

This animation tells a uniquely African fairytale, one set in the magical area of Cape Fynbos in South Africa where the plants are beautiful and strange. The area requires a large burn every twenty years or so to allow for the healthy growth of its plants. This is represented in the fairytale by the struggle of Mbali, a nature sprite, and Ember, a fire sprite. Though Ember burns the landscape completely, plants grow from the ashes to surround Mbali once again. The world of the Fynbos exists in perfect balance, as life and death, destruction and regrowth go hand in hand.
