Soo Film Festival 2022

2022 Soo Film Festival Calls for Entries

Soo Film Festival returns to downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan September 14-18, 2022. Films will once again screen at the historic Soo Theatre and Bayliss Public Library, a Superior District Library. Due to the ongoing health crisis, dates and venues are subject to change. This activity is supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, administered by Eastern Upper Peninsula Planning Commission.

Festival President Jason Markstrom: "We are looking forward to this being perhaps our biggest and brightest year and seeing our friends and their movies. After all, few things look better on the big screen than the Great Lakes."

An open call for entries begins March 7. Documentary and all genres of fiction, feature and shorts, will be accepted online exclusively through FilmFreeway. The festival committee has set a no-fee early bird deadline of April 3. The regular deadline is May 15 and requires a $20 entry fee. Late entries must be submitted by June 6 with an entry fee of $25. The selected films will be announced the week of July 18.

Filmmakers will find complete details at FilmFreeway.com/SooFilmFestival.

Soo Film Festival 2022 is open to filmmakers worldwide but will continue to emphasize and showcase work from the Great Lakes region.

The 2022 Soo Film Festival organizing committee is Jason Markstrom, Allison Youngs, Pat Egan, and Susan James.
